Easton Aquatic Club takes on Food Scarcity
Easton Aquatic Club's 2nd Annual Food Drive Beats Collection Goal for Food Pantry
EASTON, PA- Easton Aquatic Club (EAC) took part in a burgeoning tradition this past Independence Day, their 2nd Annual AmeriCAN Food Drive.
At their July 4th practice EAC took in over 200lbs of food donated by swim team families. “Last year it was brand new so we weren't sure what to expect,” said Easton Aquatic Club head coach Carlton Taylor, ”This year we set a goal of over 200 lbs since we were close last time. It looked like it would rain early. I was just hoping we’d have a nice turnout for practice,” the team practices daily outside at Heil Pool on the southside of Easton. Taylor continued “The rain held off, the tent went up, and the food came pouring in, our families did a great job once again. We can work hard, have fun, and still help out in our community.” Easton Aquatic Club swimmer Jake Thomas,” Being helpful to others shows kindness and compassion especially to those who need someone to count on.”
The “EAC 2nd Annual AmeriCan Food Drive” gathered roughly 218 lbs of canned food, pasta, rice and beans which were delivered by swimmers and their families to ProJeCt Easton Food Pantry Tuesday morning. Coach Carlton,”Next year we’ll get the word out earlier and do more, maybe get some other teams to start drives, many hands make light work.”
