Feeling a bit of pain at the pump lately? Well, you’re not alone.
According to AAA’s fuel report, the average price of a gallon of self-serve gasoline in the Lehigh Valley is $3.568, 14.7 cents higher than a week ago, 10.4 cents higher than a month ago and 19 cents higher than a year ago.
This is pretty much on par with what’s happening across the country, the report says. This week, the current national average retail price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.635, up 15.2 cents from a week ago, up 2.1 cents from last month and 23.9 cents higher than a year ago.

And, this type of a mid-July jump also mirrors historic patterns, according to AAA. The national average rose 17 cents per gallon in July 2011, and 16 cents in July 2012. The price this year has already jumped 12 cents in the first 15 days of July.
In the Easton area, you can still find gas that's slightly cheaper than the Lehigh Valley average. On Wednesday morning, the Gulf station at 25th and Northampton was selling unleaded for $3.55 a gallon, according to the website gasbuddy.com.Â
