Happy 261st Birthday, Easton Farmers' Market

In calendar years, the Easton Farmers' Market is older than the United States.

People began selling goods in the city's square 261 years ago, before Easton was even a city.

The market celebrated its birthday Saturday with cake, a clown, and a visit from a group of town cryers—in the city for Heritage Day on Sunday—who served as pitchmen/pitchwomen for various vendors.

And although the market predates the American revolution, it's not showing it's age. The past year has seen considerable growth for the market, with the addition of a new winter market, a second day of operation, and a new permanent home on Northampton Street.
