Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Easton Town Crier to Compete in Canada
David Rose will head to World Invitational Town Crier Championships next month.

Whenever Easton needs to mark a special event or remember its past, the city calls on David Rose.
Rose is the city's town crier. In the past few months, he's announced the opening of the Easton Farmers' Market, and brought other town criers to the city to celebrate Heritage Day.
Now, he's taking his act out of town to Canada, to represent Easton in the World Invitational Town Crier Championships in Kingston, Ontario.
The competition runs from August 1 to August 5, and challenges town criers from England, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium and the Netherlands to give their best cry.
According to a city news release, competitors are judged on "a variety of criteria including sustained volume and clarity, diction and inflection, and stage presence."Â
They'll also get a chance to give a "hometown cry" talking about the virtues of the cities where they live.
This is the second year Rose has competed. Last year, his wife Kimberly, who accompanied him to the event dressed in Victorian clothing, was named "Best Dress Consort."
