Man With Sword Said He'd 'Get' Women, Police Say

An Easton man was arrested for making terroristic threats against two women “while waving a large sword in the air in a violent fashion,” city police said.
Michael Ayala, 42, of 20 N. Ninth St., is accused in the incident, which occurred on the 800 block of Pine Street on May 10 at about 8:12 p.m., police said.
The two women victims told police that Ayala had come to their home and engaged them in an argument while he waved the sword around, according to an arrest affidavit. Ayala allegedly told the women that he was “going to get” them, police said.

Ayala was charged with two counts each of simple assault (attempt by menace), terroristic threats and harassment.
He was arraigned Thursday night before on-duty District Judge Joseph Barner of Lower Nazareth Township and released on $5,000 bail.

Sword-related police incidents aren't unheard of in Easton.
Earlier this year, South Side resident Daisy Estremera was accused of hitting her boyfriend with a sheathed samurai sword. She is due to have a preliminary hearing next week.
And in 2011, West Ward resident Stephen McDougald was charged with threatening a group of kids with a pair of machetes. He was sentenced to spend up to 40 months in state prison, according to court records.
