What qualifies you to serve on the board?
1. I have years of experience working with children and their families.
2. I am involved in the community and I believe in public education.
What do you see as the board's/ primary role and responsibilities?
The main responsibility of the school board is to utilize our tax dollars in an appropriate and effective way to provide a quality education for our children.
Tell us about three major challenges facing the district and how you would address them. (Please be as specific as possible):
1. The Budget- We need to continue to provide educational programs and services despite the reduced amount funds from the state. We need to look at creative ways to balance our budget while maintaining a quality education for all of our children.
The school board needs to be actively engaged in conversations with our local legislators, the relevant unions and the community about the issue of financing our public schools. By enlisting ideas from the whole community, we can find innovative solutions.
2. Education- I think that we need to put the focus on the quality of education for our children at the elementary as well as the secondary level. Our children should receive an education that helps them learn needed skills and develop a love for learning.
3. Infrastructure- We need to plan for the repair and expansion of our schools and facilities. There should be an adequate amount of funds set aside in case of emergencies.
How much are you spending to run? How is your campaign being funded?
Under $1000 that I have funded myself, “Friends of Michelle Price”
