New Staring Blocks for Heil Pool

The city of Easton along with private donors help Easton Aquatic Club make upgrades at Heil Pool

Easton Aquatic Club, a nonprofit summer swim team in Easton, PA, enjoyed a significant upgrade this season with the installation of proper diving blocks, thanks to the collaboration between local sponsors and the city of Easton. For years, the club struggled with wooden blocks, which impacted the performance and safety of its young swimmers. “The old blocks were heavy, hard to move and store.” Club head coach Carlton Taylor,” they also got pretty slippery and moved when the older swimmers dove. They just required a lot of maintenance. ”

Recognizing the club's need for improved equipment, club sponsors (several local business and individuals) stepped forward with generous donations. Chief among them were law firm Spitale, Vargo, Madsen & Blair and Harmony Animal Hospital, their contributions were crucial in reaching the financial target needed to purchase the new diving blocks. This community-driven initiative was further bolstered by the support of the city of Easton, which provided logistical assistance and ensured that the installation met all safety and regulatory standards. Coach Carlton on the partnership, “We couldn’t have done this without support from our sponsors and the city has been great to work with.”

The club began using the new blocks at the beginning of their season this past June. Coach Carlton, “They’re safer and easier for us to move. We practice starts a lot more and that no doubt has led to the swimmers success in the pool.” The team finished the season second in the PennJersey Swim League with a 6-1 record. The installation of proper blocks not only enhance the club's training capabilities but also boosts the morale of its swimmers, setting the stage for future competitive success.
