Operation Holiday® launches the Christmas Season

Operation Holiday® launches the Christmas Season Helping Those in Need

POWER CHANGES LIVES INC® is pleased to announce the launch of Operation Holiday® 2021 helping those in need for the holiday season.

Last year, generous donors throughout the community “adopted” over 200 individuals, families, seniors and the homeless throughout New Jersey. Individuals and families, through agency referrals, were able to enjoy the holiday season without the stress and embarrassment of not being able to celebrate with their families. Seniors were provided Kindle Fire 7 tablets that were pre-programmed with life-saving technologies connecting them to their physicians (telehealth) to manage chronic conditions, pharmacies, grocery stores, and family wellness checks. The homeless were provided charitable gift cards from Walmart to purchase food and toiletries. This year, POWER® has expanded its program to include all of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

Community organizations, churches, social service agencies and non-profits, can submit client referrals as priority applications until November 5, 2021. After this date, the portal will be open to all (individuals and organizational referrals) to apply until December 31, 2021, or when the capacity has been reached and the portal is closed. Those in low-income, minority and underserved communities are strongly encouraged to apply. To apply, visit: http://www.operationholiday.net Applications are automatically dated and time-stamped to provide services first-come, first-served.

“The holidays are often a huge struggle for families, especially in a COVID-19 world where the new normal includes the loss the family members, head of household, unemployment and long-hauliers who contracted COVID-19 and now suffer from chronic health conditions – together, POWER® and our amazing community are here to help,” said Penelope Lopez, President and CEO.

Donors can “adopt” a family through Eventbrite immediately, pledging their support, accessing the link directly through the Operation Holiday® website. Family identifiers are not disclosed to protect privacy; however, the family background and wish list are provided to give donors a full understanding of the need. Once the donor has adopted the family through Eventbrite, the family’s full contact information is provided by email containing information on how to ship (or hand-deliver) the gifts directly to the household or community organization. Those who would like to adopt are reminded to thoroughly review the wish list, and if they are unable to fully commit to purchasing the items requested by the family or individual, are encouraged to consider making a cash donation instead by visiting: http://www.operationholiday.net/donate or mailing a check to the Morris Plains, NJ home office.
