Writer Martin Amis to Speak at Lafayette

British novelist will discuss his works and the life of the late Christopher Hitchens.

Acclaimed British author Martin Amis is coming to Lafayette College

Amis, author of 13 novels and considered one of Britain's greatest living writers, will speak about his work and the life of writer Christopher Hitchens on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Hitchens, an author/journaist who died in 2011, was  Amis' best friend. Amis has spoken about him numerous times in interviews and lectures since then, the college said in a news release.

Amis has been awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, Britain’s oldest literary awards. Two of his novels -- Yellow Dog and Time's Arrow -- have been listed for Booker Prizes. His most recent novel Lionel Asbo: State of England, was published last year.

His talk at Lafayette is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Colton Chapel, followed by a book signing and reception at Marquis Hall.
