• Luzerne County Council to vote on one-time bonuses for security officers (timesleader.com) — Edwardsville’s magisterial court is set to return to its fully renovated Russell Street building under a new five-year lease the county council will vote on Tuesday. At the same meeting, council will decide on $10,000 bonuses for five county security officers and consider revised timelines for American Rescue-funded projects in Ashley and Shickshinny.
   

• Funeral Directors Association contributes to Fork Over Love (timesleader.com) — A local nonprofit based in Edwardsville, Fork Over Love, just received a $1,000 holiday donation from the Luzerne County Funeral Directors Association to support residents in need. The group also contributed to Hazleton’s Seeds of Hope and the Bikes for Tykes campaign, highlighting a broader regional push to help vulnerable families this season.
   

• Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority to interview for new chief (citizensvoice.com) — If you own property in Edwardsville protected by the Susquehanna River levee, your flood protection fee will stay the same for 2026. The Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority also plans to interview candidates and possibly choose a new executive director at its Jan. 20 meeting, as longtime leader Christopher Belleman retires next month.
