Celebrate the Season This Weekend

It's the season of giving—and what better way to get the holidays started rather than local light up celebrations?

Borough kicks off the good cheer at 7 p.m. Friday with its own Light Up Night at Memorial Park. "The Night Before Christmas" will be read to neighborhood children and Santa Claus will make his traditional visit. The tree will be lit this evening and also, a toy drive will be held at the Edgewood Club afterward. Refreshments will be served there with entertainment for children as well.

annual Night of Lights celebration will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the CVS shopping center at Church Street and Monongahela Avenue. Santa will arrive to light the lights on the Christmas tree.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will pose with residents for photos. There will be treats for everybody, entertainment by a dance troupe, a hayride, caroling and the lighting of a menora.
