Edgewood Police Reports: Man Shot in Swissvale, DUI Arrests

Here's a look at the police blotter this week.

Sept. 16

  • A suspicious person was reported walking down Greendale Avenue with his pants falling down and a dazed look on his face. James Murphy was identified by police and advised to walk back to Wilkinsburg.
  • A suspicious person was reported outside of the Edgewood Towne Center Kmart asking for money and rides.
  • Edgewood police assisted Wilkinsburg officers with a stolen car report and foot pursuit after people in the car attempted to strike a Wilkinsburg detective. Four men fled from the car on foot near the 1500 block of Clark Street.
  • Police responded to an accident on South Braddock Avenue and arrested Corey Fleese under DUI charges after he had a .226 percent blood alcohol content.
  • Edgewood police assisted Swissvale officers in serving an arrest warrant for Alisha Thomas, who could not be located at that time.

Sept. 17

  • Edgewood police transported Jacob Edgington to Allegheny County Jail on an arrest warrant.
  • Edgewood police assisted Swissvale officers in a driving under the influence arrest as Zaine Mattox had a .279 percent blood alcohol content.

  • Edgewood police arrested Clarence Avery on driving under the influence charges after a traffic stop on South Braddock Avenue in which he had a .261 percent blood alcohol content.
  • Edgewood police assisted Rankin officers in a driving under the influence arrest after Kamilah Abdullah was found to have a .232 percent blood alcohol content.

Sept. 19

  • A juvenile was taken out of Edgewood Primary School after Principal Janet Carter found a utilty knife on a third grade student who traded several army men for it with another student. Both students will face possible expulsion hearings. No threats were made with the knife.
  • Retail theft was reported at Edgewood Towne Center Kmart after Robin Davis attempted to remove glue and sealant valued at $7.78. She had one prior charge for retail theft. Kmart is handling the case through private prosecution.

  • A theft from a car was reported at 714 Walnut when Aaron Gray found his car was broken into and a jar with $10 worth of change was stolen.
  • Edgewood police assisted Swissvale officers with a man shot in the face at Woodstock Avenue and Elmer Street.

Sept. 21

  • Retail theft was reported at the Edgewood Towne Center Giant Eagle after Stephen Reed was caught walking out of the store with a personal mug filled with coffee that he did not pay for. He was stopped, questioned and admitted stealing coffee for more than a month. He will be charged privately through Giant Eagle.

Sept. 22

  • A loose grey pitbull was reported at Ella and Walnut, and later was picked up by Triangle Pet.
  • A stolen license plate was reported at the parking lot of the Edgewood Towne Center Giant Eagle belonging to Carolyn Brinson of Pittsburgh.
