Ed Cook is New Mayor in Edgewood

The results are in—Ed Cook is the new Edgewood mayor.

 is the official mayor of Edgewood for the next two years.

  • Ruth W. Pickering (REP)—303 votes, 34.99 percent
  • J. Edward Cook (DEM)—560 votes, 64.67 percent

The Democratic candidate will finish former mayor Jean Davin's term. Davin last December. Shortly after she left, Council member until Dec. 31 of this year.

Cook ran against , the Republican candidate who previously served as mayor for 12 years.

"My opponent and I were both together the entire day talking to people as they came into vote and we were joking with each other," Cook said. "That’s the way I like it. There was nothing dirty about the campaign on either side and it was good."
