Patch's Hurricane Sandy Storm Coverage

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Allegheny County and surrounding areas.
The warning, which went into effect at 6 p.m. Monday, includes Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence and Washington counties in Pennsylvania. The warning extends until 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
The National Weather Service is warning that the flooding could hit small streams and urban areas.

In a 6 p.m. update on Hurricane Sandy, Gov. Tom Corbett said major interstates around Philadelphia will be closed around 7 p.m. as the storm reaches land in New Jersey.
The governor also reported more than 100,000 customers are without power in Pennsylvania and 308 are in shelters. He said he had no confirmed reports of injuries or deaths.

Duquesne Light spokesman Brian Knavish said the outages in this area are scattered throughout Allegheny and Beaver counties.
To stay up to date on the storm, Corbett recommended checking www.pa.gov. For road conditions, travelers can call 511 or check www.511pa.com.
Edgewood Borough has asked that residents help by cleaning leaves from storm grates.
Woodland Hills School District, Wilkinsburg School District and Pittsburgh Public Schools are closed Tuesday.
Port Authority of Allegheny County announced Monday that there would be no anticipated changes in schedules or routes as a result of the weather.
