Pittsburgh Show-Offs Host Evening of Fun in Highland Park

Performers from Forest Hills, Regent Square and South Hills perform with yo-yo tricks, juggling, storytelling and physical comedy.

Three of the Pittsburgh Show-Offs will take the stage for one-night only at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Union Project, 801 North Negley Ave., Highland Park.

The three performers, who will juggle up a hilarious night of showing off, great tricks, great jokes and great stories, are:

  • Mark Hayward: World Yo-Yo champion from Regent Square.
  • Mike Perry: Storyteller and Ringling Circus veteran from Forest Hills.
  • Howard Mincone: Physical comedian, juggler and a very personable entertainer from the South Hills area.

"It's the first anniversary of the Pittsburgh Show-Offs," Perry said.

The group meets on Wednesday nights at the Union Project, a converted church that offers community space, to promote variety arts, such as juggling, circus skills, Vaudeville, Yo-Yo tricks and top spinning. The participants include those who want to learn and those who want to practice and hone their skills.

"There's a broad spectrum of abilities," Perry said, noting he'd like to see a performance group grow out of the Show-Offs in the future.
