The event from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Wilkinsburg High School will spotlight student talent.

The Sanctuary Project is sponsoring an "Art and Talent Show" from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Wilkinsburg High School on Wallace Avenue.
The show's theme is "Let There Be Peace on Earth and Let It Begin with Me." The show will focus on the artistic and performing arts talents of students in grades 6-12.
"We're trying to do things for the youth of our community," said Ann Greider, executive director of the Wilkinsburg Community Ministry.

One of the Sanctuary Project's goals is to build the self esteem of the community's young people, she explained. Having local residents come out and see their talents will do just that, Greider said.
The art show will feature photography, drawings, paintings, collages, cartoons and printmaking done by the students. The talent show will feature solo and group acts in dance, song, rap, poetry, mime and instrumental performances.

Greider said the students will have a chance to win $100 Monroeville Mall gift certificate for first place in the two shows, $75 gift certificate for second place and $50 certificate for third place. Honorable mentions will receive a $25 gift certificate to Loews Cinema.
The Rev. Janet Hellner-Burris, pastor of Wilkinsburg Christian Church, is the show organizer. Greider and her husband will provide the finger food.
