Wellness Pittsburgh Offers Healthy Strategies, Chiropractic Care
This Regent Square business will get you on the right track to holistic health.

Chris Powell is helping people to take a more approach to health with services ranging from chiropractic options to nutritional counseling.
“We offer very specific chiropractic care—it’s not like a cookie cutter chiropractic experience like a lot of people have had,” Powell said. “It’s very specific and precise, and the purpose of that is not necessarily for pain relief, but overall improvement of body function.”
As the owner of , located in Regent Square on South Braddock Avenue, Powell of helps his clients to take control of their lives to improve their bodies on different levels. While he specializes in pediatric care and offers different classes and services for pregnant women, he also coaches people about overall nutrition to help them meet their goals.

“In a nutshell, chiropractic care is removing interference from the nervous system, and in doing that, the entire body works better,” Powell said.
The local business opened across the street from its current location in 2007 and moved to its new building in March of last year. The added visibility has helped to increase business.

“We also work with people on individualized meal plans, what works for them, proper supplementation—everything we carry here is stuff that I take and give to my kids,” Powell said. “We also do consulting with people on their lifestyle habits and exercise, detoxification, helping them have a positive mental attitude.”
Powell lives by key pillars of wellness—what we eat, exercise, getting rid of the toxins in our bodies, good mental attitude and making sure the nervous system is not being interfered with.
“Those are the five pillars I work on with my clients to help improve their lifestyle in general,” he said.
Powell got his start in the wellness field because he never liked the idea of taking a pill to fix a problem.
“I had a teacher in seventh grade who had a headache and a student said, ‘Why don’t you take an aspirin?’ and she said, ‘I don’t take an aspirin right away—I want to let my body work it out itself and then if I need to take it later, it will work better,’” Powell said. “Ever since she said that, it had a big impact on me.”
After he injured his back while playing football in high school, Powell started to seek help from a chiropractor.
“Once he started explaining the nervous system to me and the importance of it, and how everything is working together, it made sense,” Powell said. “I always wanted to do something in health care, but something that made sense—something that had more of an impact. My first experience at a chiropractor’s office opened my eyes to a lot and it seemed like a natural fit.”
In today’s society, being proactive about health is more important now than ever.
“Nobody’s going to do it for you—you can’t rely on the next new fad or next new miracle supplement or diet,” he said. “You can’t put your health in someone else’s hands and you can’t put it in the hands of your medical doctor.”
Prevention and daily attention to food, exercise and other aspects are key.
“Modern medicine is good at saving our lives, but our society as a whole is falling short on wellness and prevention,” Powell said. “When I see six week old babies put on Nexium or their third course of antibiotics, it breaks my heart. I see a lot of disinformation and a lot of people who are confused, and I hope to offer some clarity.”
