High school students have the opportunity to learn about tax laws and become certified by the IRS to aid residents with tax return filings.

It's tax season! And Cedar Crest High School students are ready to assist!

In a special program, Cedar Crest High School students have the opportunity to learn about tax laws and become certified by the Internal Revenue Service to complete tax returns for individuals. The program is call the Volunteer Income Tax Assistant program.

The residents at Juniper Village at Lebanon, a personal care community, were delighted to learn they could receive help with their income tax returns and prepared their documents. So in early March, a group of Cedar Crest High School students and their teachers came to meet with them to help prepare their returns. The residents were so appreciative of the students and teachers for providing this free service. (It's actually the second year that Juniper Village residents have been assisted by the group.)
