Harrisburg mayor pays overdue ethics settlement (abc27.com) — Harrisburg residents should know that Mayor Wanda Williams has now paid a state ethics settlement tied to her use of a city-owned dumpster at her home, ending the matter with the State Ethics Commission. The payment, just over $900, was made more than a month late, but officials say it will no longer be referred to the Attorney General’s Office.
   

2. Dark nights brighten up as Harrisburg street light is restored after CBS 21 reporting (local21news.com) — If you live in Allison Hill, the dark stretch along 13th Street has finally been fixed after days without working streetlights in one of Harrisburg’s most crime-plagued areas. After a neighbor sought help from CBS 21, city crews found a tripped breaker, restored the lights, and emphasized that residents’ reports are key to catching future outages.
   

3. Harrisburg City Council passes 2026 budget, rejects pay increase for mayor Wanda Williams (fox43.com) — Harrisburg City Council has approved an $88 million 2026 budget after hours of debate and amendments, trimming about $160,000 mainly from salaries. The plan now goes to Mayor Wanda Williams, while controversy continues over the still-serving but previously rejected Business Administrator, Sam Sulkowski.
   

4. Santa brings holiday cheer to pediatric patients with helicopter visit (fox43.com) — Young patients at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Harrisburg got a rare treat as Santa arrived by STAT MedEvac helicopter, circling past their windows before handing out gifts. The visit, joined by elf Jingle, is an annual tradition meant to lift spirits, with Santa sharing hopes that every child can celebrate Christmas at home next year.
   

5. Hanukkah celebration at Pennsylvania State Capitol remembers victims of Australia shooting (abc27.com) — Harrisburg’s Jewish community gathered at the State Capitol on Monday for a Hanukkah celebration featuring the lighting of Pennsylvania’s largest menorah, music, dancing, and traditional foods. Speakers, including Gov. Josh Shapiro, also reflected on a deadly Hanukkah-related shooting in Australia while emphasizing resilience, faith, and the holiday’s message of religious freedom.
