February led with harmony and innovation at Juniper Village at Lebanon, a premier personal care community, where residents embraced memorable experiences that blended artistic expression, cultural exploration, and groundbreaking research partnerships. From musical celebrations to unique animal encounters, residents embraced each day with joy and excitement at Juniper.
The month began with the reveal of Juniper Village at Lebanon’s winner of their theme song contest. Connections associates Becky and Audrey delivered captivating performances of each entry, building anticipation for the special announcement. The celebratory moment arrived when All-American Royal Queen, Deborah Hornick, announced resident Katherine Hoopes as the winner with her heartfelt composition, "Juniper Village." Chef Luis enhanced the celebration with a delicious feast, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of community pride and accomplishment.
February's creative spirit continued with the announcement of a unique Wildlife Taxidermy Art Show scheduled for February 22nd. This distinctive exhibition promised to showcase the remarkable talents of local artists, offering residents an opportunity to appreciate specialized artistic craftsmanship. Additionally, the community formed a partnership with the Penn State Extension to offer a unique cooking class, expanding residents' culinary horizons through expert instruction and shared learning.

Valentine's Day received a distinctively Scottish interpretation at Juniper Village, with Gaelic Teacher Sarah Flemming delivering an educational presentation about Valentine's traditions in the Scottish Highlands. Residents delighted in learning Gaelic terms of endearment and traditional love songs while savoring Chef Luis's specially prepared dishes highlighting Scotland's unique flavors. The celebration reached unexpected heights with the appearance of Bear and Jett, Highland Cows brought by Boujie Farm Girl, creating an extraordinary opportunity for residents to cuddle these gentle animals on Valentine's Day.
Juniper Village at Lebanon finished out the month of February learning about art and exploring individual creativity with a cooking class by Lebanon Penn State Extension Educator, Lori Klein. Lori taught residents the basic components of a charcuterie board, tips, and recipe ideas to create a healthy charcuterie board for entertaining. Designing a colorful and balanced Charcuterie Board provided a wonderful means for residents to express their artistic passions. From learning how to carve a strawberry rose to rolling cheese into a blooming rosette, residents had a blast creating edible artwork while bonding over this shared experience.

The month concluded with an exciting collaboration as Juniper Village partnered with Penn State College of Medicine for an innovative exercise program research project. Dr. Chris Sciamanna, Professor of Medicine, and his team of medical students introduced a specialized 5-minute daily exercise program designed specifically for individuals with balance challenges. More than 20 residents volunteered to participate in this groundbreaking research, which aims to reduce falls, improve walking ability, and decrease heart attack risk. Each resident received personalized instruction on using a stepper to perform a simple one-minute exercise three times daily, with progress to be evaluated after one month.
