Melodies and Magic: Sandy Heisey Lights Up Juniper Village at Mount Joy

Sandy, a gifted singer and pianist, has made it her mission to bring joy to senior living communities, and she has become a cherished part of life at Juniper. For two hours each visit, residents are treated to an evening of music that transcends generations, genres, and even moods.

“Sandy is one of those people who lights up the room when she enters,” says Katie Erb, Connections Director at Juniper Village. “It’s like she goes around throwing confetti and sparkles in the air wherever she goes. She lifts the spirits of everyone around her. The residents love Sandy and have nothing but wonderful things to say about her music.”

The evenings she performs have become a highlight of the week. With a robust calendar of nightly entertainment, some residents say it feels more like being on a luxury cruise than in a personal care community. “We have five evenings a week of musical entertainment after dinner,” adds Katie, “and folks tell me it feels like they’re on a cruise ship, and they are loving it!”

Resident Bob Conley beams when asked about Sandy. “I like everything about her,” he says. “She’s a wonderful singer, a wonderful piano player, and she loves my jokes! She plays all kinds of music: religious, hillbilly, popular songs, old music from 50 years ago, Broadway, she plays it all!”

Another resident, Jetty Sadler, agrees wholeheartedly. “Sandy uses so much expression and so much joy in her music! You can just see how much she enjoys it herself, and we enjoy her so much! Her singing and her piano are just fabulous.”

Sandy’s visits go far beyond entertainment because they foster connection, nostalgia, and happiness. They are a reminder of the power of music to bring people together and lift the soul. Her talent, combined with her contagious energy, has made her not just a performer, but a beloved friend and source of inspiration for everyone at Juniper Village.
