Dog Recovers Stolen Firefighter's Helmet

One of Haverford Police Department's canine officers recovered the helmet, but did not find the person who stole it.

Someone stole a firefighter’s helmet from the Brookline Fire Company while firefighters were out responding to a call during the early morning hours of July 7.

According to Haverford Township Police, an officer on patrol spotted a man walking in the area of East Benedict Avenue and Darby Road at around 2 a.m. The man appeared to be trying to hide something in his right hand, according to police.

Although the man apparently ran from the area after the officer was pursuing him, one of the department’s canine officers, Jango, was able to find the stolen firefighter’s helmet, police said. But Jango was unable to find the man police believe stole the helmet.
