COVID Cases Up, Hospitalizations Down In Delaware County
The average number of coronavirus patients on ventilators also decreased over the past seven days, data from state health officials show.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — While coronavirus cases have increased in Delaware County, hospitalizations and ventilator use has gone down, according to the latest data from the state.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health Friday reported three of the six key coronavirus metrics increased, while the other three decreased over the past seven days.
New confirmed cases increased from 205 to 318 since last week, and the incidence rate per 100,000 people also went up from 36.2 to 56.1.

Delaware County's positive testing rate increased from 3.6 percent to 5.7 percent.
Despite those increases, average daily coronavirus specific hospitalizations went down from 11.9 to 10.7.

Additionally, average daily coronavirus patients on ventilators dropped from 0.6 to 0.
Lastly, the percent of hospital emergency room visits for coronavirus-like illnesses went down from 1.4 percent to 1.3 percent.
State data shows the county to date has seen 96,036 confirmed cases and 1,871 coronavirus deaths.
Delaware County has 359,304 fully vaccinated residents and 81,851 partially vaccinated residents.
Of the fully vaccinated residents, 158,473 have received an additional dose since August, 13 2021.
