COVID Cases Up, But Hospitalizations Down In Delaware County
Despite another week of increased cases, the county has seen a drop in the average number of people hospitalized by the coronavirus.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Coronavirus cases are on the rise still in Delaware County, but fewer people are being hospitalized due to infections.
The latest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health shows the county is seeing more cases of the virus, but hospitalizations are down despite the case increase.
According to the data, newly confirmed cases increased from 402 to 506 over the past week.

With the case increase obviously comes an increase in the incidence rate per 100,000 people, which went up from 70.9 to 89.3.
Additionally, Delaware County's PCR positive testing rate increased from 9.9 percent to 10.9 percent.

Even with these increases, the county's average daily COVID-19 specific hospitalizations decreased from 18.3 to 13.9.
Despite the lower hospitalization figures, average daily COVID-19 patients on ventilators remained the same at 4.
Lastly, the percent of hospital emergency department visits due to COVID-like illnesses increased from 1.2 percent to 1.7 percent.
To date, Delaware County has had 111,393 confirmed cases of the virus and 1,940 virus-related deaths.
