COVID Hospitalizations, Ventilator Use Increase In Delaware County
State data shows while newly confirmed cases have gone down, hospitalizations and ventilator use have increased by a significant amount.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The number of people hospitalized due to the coronavirus and the number of those on ventilators have increased over the past week in Delaware County.
According to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, average daily COVID-19-specific hospitalizations and the average daily COVID-19 patients on ventilators saw significant upticks.
Average hospitalizations went up from 24.6 to 33.

And average ventilator use increased from 1.6 to 4, the data shows.
While these metrics increased, others went down.

Newly reported confirmed cases dropped from 700 to 584.
Delaware County's incidence rate per 100,000 people also went down from 123.5 to 103.
The positive PCR testing rate also dropped from 13.5 percent to 12.1 percent.
Lastly, the percent of hospital emergency department visits due to COVID-like illnesses stayed the same at 0.9 percent.
Delaware County has seen 109,006 cases to date, per the state.
Additionally, 1,917 people have died from the coronavirus in Delaware County, state data shows.
