Deadline To Apply For Haverford Government Positions Extended

Interested and qualified residents now have until 4 p.m. Wednesday to apply for any of the numerous open positions in the local government.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — As numerous positions in the Haverford Township government need to be filled, the deadline to apply for them has been extended.

Interested and qualified residents can submit applications for the open positions through 4 p.m. Wednesday now. The initial deadline was Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Spots are open on the Zoning Hearing Board, Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Board, and more committees. Additionally, the township is looking for a solicitor and engineer.

All applications must be sent to David R. Burman, Township Manager 1014 Darby Road. Havertown, PA 19083. Applications can also be emailed to reorg@havtwp.org.

The Board of Commissioners has adopted the following requirements and procedures, which apply to applicants for all Boards, Committees and Commissions (excluding the Senior Citizens Advisory Council):

  • All applicants, including applicants seeking reappointment, must contain the following required submissions:
    • The applicant’s name, address, phone number and email address;
    • A cover letter or cover email listing each Board, Committee or Commission on which the applicant seeks an appointment or reappointment;
    • A concise statement (no more than one typed page) summarizing why the applicant seeks the appointment or reappointment; and,
    • A resume or other summary of the applicant’s experience.
  • All applicants, including applicants seeking reappointment, must appear for a 15-minute interview, to be scheduled by the Board of Commissioner
  • Any applicant or incumbent who does not appear for an interview without good cause shall not be considered for appointment or reappointment.

The following township bodies have open positions:

  • Civil Service Commission – 6-year term 1 position
  • Health Advisory Board – 5-year term 1 position
  • Historical Commission – 4-year term 2 positions
  • Human Relations Commission – 3-year term 2 positions
  • Ice Skating Rink Advisory Board - 3-year term 3 positions
  • Parks and Recreation Board – 5-year term 1 position
  • Planning Commission – 4-year term 2 positions
  • RHM Sewer Authority – 5-year term 1 position
  • Shade Tree Commission – 3-year term 2 positions
  • Vacancy Committee – 1-year term 1 position
  • Vacancy Prop. Review Committee – 5-year term 1 position
  • Zoning Hearing Board – 5-year term 1 position
