New Details On Delco Mom Charged In Daughter's Death

HAVERTOWN, PA — New details have come to light regarding the Havertown mother who is charged in the death of her 3-year-old daughter in Maine.
Kelly Brown, 40, of Havertown, is charged with manslaughter and related crimes in connection with her child's death that occurred over the weekend.
The Sheriff's Office in Penobscot County, Maine said its members were called to a business in Milford, Maine on Saturday night, where they found a 3-year-old girl dead in a vehicle. NBC10 identified the girl as Fiona, and said a dog named Penelope, were dead in the vehicle.

Maine State Police said while Fiona's cause and manner of death have not been officially determined, hyperthermia was consistent with the symptoms and was the most likely cause of death based on the current information.
Authorities learned the vehicle belonged to Brown, who was found nearby and detained by police at about 5 a.m. Sunday.

According to Action News, Brown told police she was swept away in a river while collecting garbage, leading her to fatally strand Fiona and Penelope in the vehicle.
Authorities said Brown and the child were subjects of an earlier issued attempt to locate and check on their well-being at the request of concerned family members.
After the child was found dead, the sheriff's office requested state authorities' assistance with the investigation.
Brown was booked at the Penobscot County Jail pending her appearance at the Penobscot Judicial Center.
