Property Tax Increase Included In Preliminary 2025 Haverford Budget
Police, fire, and EMS account for 42 percent of expenditures, while taxes account for 62 percent of revenues in the 2025 proposed budget.
HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Property owners in Haverford Township will likely see a higher tax bill next year, as the preliminary 2025 budget includes a nearly 4 percent increase in real estate taxes.
The Haverford Township Commissioners discussed the preliminary budget at their meeting Monday. As it stands, the budget — which accounts for $54.86 million in both revenues and expenditures — features a 3.9 percent property tax increase.
At Monday's meeting, township manager Dave Burman said officials are aware of the financial burden the proposed increase could impose on residents.

"We're all grappling with the effects of inflation and financial uncertainty," he said. "Haverford Township, as an organization, is not immune to these stresses."
Burman said Haverford's property tax rate has increased modestly when compared to inflation over the past several years.

According to budget documents, the average household will pay $60 more annually, and median households will see a $53 increase in property tax bills if the budget passes with the 3.9 percent increase.
The township's annual trash and recycling fee, $283, will remain the same if the budget passes as is.
However, sewer fees have proposed a 50 cent per 1,000 gallon increase, bringing the costs to $5.15 per 1,000 gallons.
Police, fire, and EMS account for 42 percent of expenditures, while taxes account for 62 percent of revenues in the proposed budget.
The public can share their thoughts and concerns about the budget at a Dec. 9 meeting that begins at 7 p.m. at the Township Building, 1014 Darby Road in Havertown.
