Stolen Vehicle, Fraud, Theft, More: Haverford Crime Blotter

A local resident was nearly scammed out of $20,000 when their computer froze and a number popped up on screen, police said.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Haverford Police released details on recent crimes in the township.

These incident happened between May 7 and May 13.

The blotter also includes the number of citations issued.

  • Identity Theft at the 700 block of Powder Mill Lane on May 7 at 2:47 p.m. – The victim reported that someone open an auto insurance policy using his identity.
  • Fraud at the 1400 block of Johnson Road on May 8 at 12:49 a.m. – The victim reported that her computer froze, and a phone number popped up on the screen. She called the number and was advised to file an FCC report. The victim recognized the scam when the subject requested $20,000 to fix the problem.
  • Theft at Haverford Middle School, 1700 block of Darby Road, on May 8 at 3:12 p.m. – An electric scooter was stolen.
  • Motor Vehicle Theft at the 200 block of E. Benedict Avenue on May 9 at 8:25 a.m.
  • Retail Theft at Giant, 100 block of W. Township Line Road, on May 9 at 10 a.m. – An unknown male stole $51.26 worth of merchandise.
  • Motor Vehicle Theft at the unit block of Dartmouth Lane on May 10 at 9:53 a.m.
  • Theft at Wine and Spirits, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on May 10 at 3:27 p.m. – An unknown actor stole a bottle of Smirnoff vodka valued at $26.99.
  • Retail Theft at Giant, 100 block of W. Township Line Road, on May 10 at 3:55 p.m. – An unknown male stole a 12 pack of Monster energy drinks valued at $27.59.
  • Theft at Saint Denis Cemetery, 2400 block of Saint Denis Lane, on May 12 at 11:34 a.m. – Two large stone flowerpots were stolen.
  • Theft at Saint Denis School, 300 block of E. Eagle Road, on May 12 at 5:37 p.m. – An electric scooter was stolen.
  • Retail Theft at Giant, 100 block of W. Township Line Road, on May 12 at 7:51 p.m. – 39-year-old male, 700 block of Jeffrey Street, Chester, was cited for the retail theft of $22 worth of merchandise.
  • Fraud at the 400 block of Valley Road on May 13 at 11:50 a.m. – The victim reported that someone gained access to his Citizens Bank Money Market account and withdrew $21,930.58.
  • Theft at the 600 block of Woodland Drive on May 13 at 10:32 a.m. – The victim hired a contractor to replace his air conditioning system. He provided the contractor with a $7,000 deposit and the subject failed to return to complete the work.
