Underground Fire Breaks Out On Lancaster Avenue Thursday

The Merion Fire Company of Ardmore said the underground fire led to the evacuation of a Chase Bank branch Thursday afternoon.

HAVERFORD, PA — An underground fire sent black smoke billowing into the air Thursday afternoon in Haverford.

According to the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore, the fire broke out at about 12:44p.m. Thursday in front of the Chase Bank on Lancaster Avenue in Haverford.

PECO responded and cut the power in an hour.
