Does Hellertown Still Need a Siren? Vote in the Poll.
In Hellertown the topic du jour is not what's being heard--it's what's not being heard.

And the silence has not gone unnoticed.
While some residents say they prefer the quiet, others are upset that the siren isn't being used to summon first responders to emergencies in the community.

"If it helps the community by providing more personnel to a volunteer service (which can use all the help they can get!) then I think some noise is not too much to ask to deal with," wrote Angela Andree.
Roseann Wargo wrote simply, "keep the siren."
And Dewey volunteer said Hellertown "doesn't feel quite like home" without the familiar wail.
Others recalled that the 5pm siren was a childhood reminder that it was time to go home for dinner.
What do you think? Should the siren be turned back on--and kept on? Or is it a relic of the past that's outlived its usefulness?
