Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Marathon & Half-Marathon

Organized by the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, a marathon and half-marathon will take place on Sunday, Oct. 23 in seven municipalities in Northampton, Lehigh and Carbon counties. "The courses are on rail-trails that once supported huge steam locomotives and coal cars of the Lehigh Valley, Lehigh & New England and 'Berksie' railroads," according to the D&L Heritage Corridor's brochure about the races.

The marathon--which will begin at 9am at Canal Park in Northampton--runs through Cementon, North Whitehall Township, Laurys Station, Slatington, Washington Township and East Penn Township. The half-marathon will also begin at Canal Park and end at the Lehigh County boat launch at Lehigh Gap.

The race fields are limited to a total of 500 runners. The marathon is a point-to-point race, with a six-hour time limit to finish the course. Registration fees are $65 for the marathon and $55 for the half-marathon before Sept. 16. After Sept. 16, late registration will be $75 for the marathon and $65 for the half-marathon. Race t-shirts according to size will be guaranteed until Sept. 16, and afterwards will be provided subject to availability. The final day to register will be Oct. 19.
