New Borough Zoning Officer Appointed, Sworn In

Kris Russo will officially begin his tenure as Hellertown's new Zoning and Codes Enforcement Officer on June 1.

As of June 1 your contact person will be Kris Russo, who was sworn in as new zoning and codes enforcement officer at borough council's May 7 meeting.

Russo is a Hellertown resident who was last employed by the Hunterdon Development Corporation in New Jersey, where he worked for 19 years, Borough Manager Cathy Kichline told council.

Russo, whose appointment was approved unanimously, will begin his duties at a starting salary of $44,500.

After being sworn in by Hellertown Mayor Richard Fluck, Russo told council that he hopes to begin transitioning into his new role immediately.

In the interim since Chernaskey's departure, Kichline and Police Chief Robert Shupp have been handling zoning-related duties.
