Obituary: Dennis G. Schantzenbach, 64, of Hellertown
Dennis G. Schantzenbach, 64, of Hellertown, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

Dennis G. Schantzenbach, 64, of Hellertown died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia. He was born in Allentown on Feb. 14, 1948 to the late H. Stanley Jr. and Eleanor M. (Fritz) Schantzenbach. He was the husband of Patricia D. (Duh) Schantzenbach. Dennis was a self-employed contractor for many years. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a PIAA official for over 41 years for basketball, softball and field hockey. He worked at three state finals in basketball. He officiated the 4A state championship game at Penn State in 2008. He also worked state finals in 1989 and 2005. He coached high school basketball, Junior and Senior Legion Baseball and HLSLL for many years. He was president of the East Penn Softball Chapter. He was a longtime official and umpire assignor across the Lehigh Valley. At one time he and his horse “Smokey” were avid Gymkhana competitors.

In addition to his wife of 41 years; children: Dale D. and his wife Laura B. of Moab, Utah, Shane A. of Statesville, N.C., Ryan M. of Moab, Utah, Laura R. and her husband Jason P. Ziegler of Hellertown; siblings: Gene S. of Nazareth, Donna K. wife of Christopher Stoudt of Allentown; grandchildren: Kaitlyn E. Miller-Schantzenbach, Zakary Z. and Jakob L. Ziegler.

Service:
Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 9pm Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the , 326 Main St., Hellertown. The service will be held at 11am Monday at the funeral home. The interment will conclude services at . Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., Hellertown.
