George G. Makkas, 46, of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and formerly of the Elizabeth and Washington areas in New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in Boston.

George G. Makkas, 46, of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and formerly of the Elizabeth and Washington areas in New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Boston Medical Center, Boston, Mass. He was born in Elizabeth, N.J. on Sept. 6, 1965 to Gus N. Makkas of Bethlehem Township, Pa. and the late Jeanine (Poole) Makkas. He was a graduate of Warren Hills Regional High School and Ducret School of the Arts, Plainfield, N.J. George then moved to Boston to continue his passion for fashion and art. He was a free-spirited artist but continued his family’s love in the restaurant business, where he started in his earlier years at the former Wayfarer Family Restaurant in Washington, N.J.
Survivors:
In addition to his loving father; siblings: Maria D. of Bethlehem, Nick P. of Palmer Township, Paul L. Stricklin and his wife Jean of Wheeling, W.V., Rommie L. Stricklin and his wife Kathy of Stroudsburg and Sabrina A. Makkas of Bethlehem; and many nieces and nephews.

Service:
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11am Monday, May 7, 2012 at the , 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11am. The interment will conclude services at Washington Cemetery in Washington, N.J. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
