Photos of the Day: A Wave of Purple Signs
White and purple message signs along Walnut Street--next to the Saucon Valley School District campus--are creating awareness of the upcoming Saucon Valley Relay for Life.
This year's Saucon Valley Relay for Life is less than a month away, and volunteers are ramping up efforts to promote the event, which is a major annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society in the Hellertown area and elsewhere.
As part of their promotional efforts, volunteers have been planting a "wave" of purple-and-white inspirational signs along Walnut Street in Lower Saucon Township, adjacent to the campus.
"These signs are effective with promoting the Relay and look awesome!" Saucon Valley Relay for Life co-chair Carol Schneider said in an email.

Schneider also recently announced that this year's relay's honorary chairperson will be Emma German, who is a fifth grade student at .
"Emma, her sister Hannah and her mom Jen are currently active with the RFL of SV and are part of the Golden Angels team," Schneider said. "We look forward to seeing Emma take the lead of along with Korand and all of our Survivors!"

This year's will be held in Hellertown's and will include a 24-hour walk-a-thon to help raise funds for cancer research. Live entertainment, food, vendors, children's activities and  will also be part of the event, which typically attracts hundreds.
