Members of the public are being invited to view and comment on plans for the .

The plans are currently on display in the lobby of , and will remain on display during regular business hours through Friday, June 1.

Enhancements that are planned as part of the federally-funded project include the construction of a "bump-out" traffic calming feature at Easton Road and Main Street, just north of Borough Hall.

"The bump-out will create an attractive greenspace while expanding the civic space at the municipal center," a press release from the borough stated.

The bump-out is also expected to improve pedestrian safety in the area by reducing the crosswalk distance across Easton Road at Main Street from 90 feet to 25 feet, and by slowing traffic turning onto Easton from Main.

Other improvements that are planned include a rain garden; bicycle racks; a bus shelter with a green roof; a shade pergola that will filter and cool rainwater runoff; and a circular, shaded plaza at the southwest corner of the borough complex, immediately adjacent to the intersection of Main and Water streets.

Flowering trees will ring part of the plaza, and a sign welcoming motorists and pedestrians to the borough's municipal complex will face the corner.

Public input is required before the project can commence, and anyone who views the plans will be able to ask questions and offer comments on a survey form provided by Barry Isett and Associates, the borough's engineering firm.

Survey forms are available next to the plans in the lobby, and comments will also be accepted via the borough website.

"Individuals or groups with a demonstrated interest within the project limits, surrounding businesses, and local property owners that may be affected by the proposed project are encouraged to view the displayed plans," a joint statement from Borough Manager Cathy Kichline and Bryan Smith, of BIA, said.

The current plans incorporate recomendations from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) funded Pennsylvania Communities Transportation Initiative Study.
