'Where's the Bar At?' Drunken Man Asked Officers: Police

Hellertown Police say Thomas Howard, 49, of the 400 block of North Sixth Street, Allentown, was cited for public drunkenness after he approached three police officers inside a borough business establishment.

An allegedly intoxicated Allentown man was cited for public drunkenness March 6, after police say he approached several uniformed Hellertown police officers inside a business establishment in the 1100 block of Main Street and asked them, "Where's the bar at?"

A press release about the incident did not name the business, but the Express-Times identified it as Rocco's Pizzeria, which is located in the 1100 block of Main Street.

Police said that at 12:09pm, a "visible (sic) intoxicated" Thomas Howard, 49, of the 400 block of North Sixth Street, entered the business.

As he returned to the passenger seat of a waiting vehicle outside, police said Howard was stopped along with the driver, who authorities identified as Stuart Winnick, 67, of the 2000 block of West Whitehall Street, Allentown.

Police said Howard and Winnick were then found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol, which authorities said "Howard attempted consuming before police could see what it was."

Both men were cited for Restrictions on Alcoholic Beverages, police said.
