Fireworks Safety Stressed In Horsham Township

Horsham ChATs said residents need to follow state laws for fireworks usage during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Horsham Community Police Services is reminding residents who use fireworks to follow state laws involving them going into the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

1. Cannot be ignited or discharged on public or private property without express permission of the property owner.

2. Cannot be directed at another person.

3. Cannot be discharged from or directed at a building or vehicle.

4. Cannot be discharged within 150 feet of a building or vehicle regardless if the building or vehicle is owned by the user of the consumer fireworks.

5. Cannot be discharged while the person is under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance or another drug.

The following may take, remove, or cause to be removed all stocks of consumer or display fireworks sold, used, stored, or held in violation of this law:

  • PA State Police
  • Act 120 certified municipal police officers
  • A sheriff or sheriff’s deputy
  • A member of a Pennsylvania bomb squad accredited by the FBI and certified in hazardous devices training

Residents who notice anyone using fireworks illegally should call 911 and report that information to the dispatcher. They will see that an officer is sent to investigate the complaint.
