Former Hatboro Councilwoman Zygmont Mourned

The community is mourning the loss of former Hatboro Councilwoman Sandy Zygmont, who passed away last Tuesday

HATBORO, PA — The borough community is mourning the loss of former Councilwoman Sandy Zygmont, who passed away last Tuesday surrounded by her family.

Sandy (Sandra Ann) Zygmont, 69, lived in Hatboro for 35 years. It was there that she and her husband John, a former Hatboro Council President, raised their children, were active community members, and served the borough for decades, according to her obituary.

Borough officials, Borough Council, Mayor Tim Schultz, and borough staff expressed condolences.

"Sandy did so much for Hatboro and touched so many," borough officials said in a post paying tribute to her. "It is rare that you meet someone who is so devoted to her community and so involved impacting the lives of many residents, employees both past and present, business owners, and community groups through her lifetime. She loved Hatboro just as much as Hatboro loved her, and she worked tirelessly to give back to our small town, however she could."

Zygmont served as a PTA mom, Union Library of Hatborough Board President, treasurer, and board member, Little League team mom, Hatboro-Horsham Soccer club treasurer, Hatboro Councilwoman, a member of the Hatboro Republican Organization, Hatboro Committee Woman, a member of the Montgomery County Republican Committee, fundraised for the Hatboro Pool Revitalization, and served as a board member of the Hatboro Borough Authority member.

After her children were all beyond elementary age, shed worked for the Upper Moreland Township School District for 27 years. Over that time, she served as a Primary-Intermediate School paraprofessional, reading support specialist, and in one-on-one support.

"The amount of joy and sense of accomplishment Sandy felt in being a part of the educational foundations of children was immeasurable. She enjoyed the friendships she made and camaraderie she felt with her co-workers and fellow educators," her obituary stated.

Relatives and friends are invited to her evening viewing on June 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Schneider Funeral Home 431 N. York Road, Hatboro, and again on June 5 in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave, Warrington, PA 18976 after 9:30 am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will be private for immediate family at a later date.
