Hatboro Flooding : Borough Declares Disaster Emergency
The borough of Hatboro declared a disaster emergency due to heavy flooding, and says first responders performed "countless" water rescues.
HATBORO, PA—The borough of Hatboro declared a disaster emergency due to heavy flooding Wednesday night, and says first responders rescued "countless" people from high waters.
Borough officials are asking residents to stay away from the Pennypack Footbridge that connects Horsham Road to the Pennypack School.
"The Borough is aware of the cars and debris under and around the bridge and is working to coordinate removal," a Facebook post states. "Walking on the footbridge and the surrounding area is extremely dangerous at this time. Please do not walk beyond the caution tape put in place here nor at other locations throughout the Borough as it is put in place to protect residents while storm cleanup is taking place."

The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety has set up an online form for residents and business owners to report damage, so the county may more accurately assess how the storm affected the county.

The borough says Hatboro Memorial Pool is closed for the season. All open houses and activities at Hatboro-Horsham School District are canceled for Thursday.
The barrage of rainfall leftover from Hurricane Ida Thursday caused the Schuylkill River and Perkiomen Creek to flood to all time-historic high levels.
The National Weather Service is in the area, surveying damage in Montgomery and Bucks counties.
