HATBORO, PA —The borough will get into the holiday spirit with the annual tree lighting Friday night.

The long-standing community tradition takes place in front of the Union Library of Hatborough starting around 5 p.m. with numerous activities as shops in the York Road Business District will also showcase their wares.

Parents can take photos of their kids with Santa and Mrs. Claus for free (with or without a welcomed donation) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the library on South York Road.

The Hatboro Winter Night and Tree Lighting —sponsored by the Hatboro Chamber of Commerce —will feature numerous performances, speeches, and holiday festivities.

Here is the schedule of events:

  • 5:15 – 5:45 p.m. —Upper Moreland Intermediate School Wind & Percussion Ensemble
  • 6:00- 6:15 p.m. —In front of the Hatboro Library- Speeches and Welcome to the Tree Lighting
  • 6:15- 6:30 p.m. —Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive on a fire truck by the Enterprise Fire Company with Santa offering a hello as the lights to the tree are turned on.
  • 6:30- 8:00 p.m. —Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus are taken in the library. Letters to Santa can also be dropped off.
  • 5:30-7:30 p.m. —Church of the Advent (Rorer Avenue), will be open and hosting. People can make a holiday ornament and cocoa and cookies will be served.
  • 5:00- 9:00 p.m. —Cyrenity Sips Winery will be having a sale on wines, merchandise, and gift sets.
  • 5:00 – 8:30 p.m. —Beauty from Ashes will be open for holiday gift ideas.
  • 5:00- 7:00 p.m. —Street Foods Sandwich Shop will be open for takeout. There will be a free hot dog for children with an adult purchase.
  • 6:30- 8:00 p.m. State Rep. Nancy Guenst's office will host a Holiday Open House at 19 S. York Rd. Light Refreshments will be served.
  • 5:00- 8:30 p.m. —Borough businesses will be open along York Road for holiday shopping.

The library's Letter Station will be open after the Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday where residents can help a soldier have some holiday cheer by submitting a card or letter so it can make it overseas in time for the holidays.
