HATBORO, PA —One of the borough's biggest traditions will raise the holiday spirit on Friday night.

The borough will hold its annual tree-lighting ceremony in front of the Union Library on South York Road.

Festivities begin at 5:15 p.m.

See the schedule:

  • 5:15 p.m. —UMIS Wind and Percussion Ensemble and Encore String Ensemble
  • 6 p.m. —Speeches and carols on the library front lawn
  • 6:15 p.m. —Santa's arrival and tree lighting

Attendees can meet Santa Claus inside the library after the tree lighting.

  • There are still a few spots available for the Dec. 14 watercolor workshop. The event includes painting and a guided project. No experience is required and all materials are provided. Click here to sign up.
  • Electric violinist Caryn Lin will appear on Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. Lin plays "music that sounds as if it were traveling through a prism." Library officials said the enchanting melodies, mesmerizing rhythmic patterns, and intergalactic sounds will inspire imaginations.
