In addition to owning a local business, Lewis contributed to his community as a Hatboro Rotarian, president of the Chamber of Commerce, member of the Upper Moreland Hatboro Joint Sewer Authority, Cub Scout Volunteer, among others, borough officials said.
Throughout the years, Lewis and his family have also sponsored youth organizations like the local Little League and Eagle Scouts and donated hundreds of gallons of paint over the years for post-prom parties, local theatres, playgrounds, historical society projects, scout projects, and more, borough officials said.

Lewis and his wife moved to Florida in 2021.
But borough officials said their legacy lives on both in their selfless contributions over the years and through their storefront, which is now owned and operated by their daughter Cherrie Lewis.
"George and his family gave so much to our community and we are so grateful for their contributions to Hatboro (both past and present)," borough officials said. "We offer our sincerest condolences to the Lewis Family at this time."
