Last fall, Allen suffered cardiac arrest after he went into anaphylactic shock following a bee sting incident. The lack of oxygen he suffered to his brain during his heart attack event led to him being hospitalized for months.

The family initially held out hope that with the right medical care and physical rehab that Allen could make a recovery, but it was ultimately determined that his brain injury was too damaging and Allen was eventually sent home on hospice care.

He passed away earlier this month surrounded by his loved ones.

Allen, who was only in his mid-30s, was a beloved member of the Hatboro Police Department who was integral in starting the department's K9 Unit.

Allen, who lived in Doylestown, Bucks County, was also the father of two children. He never got to know his newest child, who was born while Allen was hospitalized.
