Transformer Fire Knocks Out Power In Horsham

About 64 people are still without power following Monday night's storm, Horsham ChATs said.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Some residents around Walnut Avenue are without power after a transformer fire caused by Monday night's storm, authorities said.

Horsham ChATs reported Tuesday morning that at least 64 people are without power in the township, mainly from a transformer fire that hit Monday night on the 400 block of Walnut Ave.

"We had a significant storm impact our area," Horsham Community Police Services said Tuesday. "As far as damage caused by the storm, we got off pretty lucky."

Horsham ChATs said at the peak of the storm Monday night, more than 1,500 township residents were without power.

Those included 296 homes in the Wynmere development and 1.200 homes in the vicinity of Limekiln Pike extending to Herman Road.

Horsham ChATS said that PECO is responding to 176 outages impacting more than 4,000 customers in Montgomery County.

"Currently we are not being provided with restoration times due to the high volume of outages in their service area.

The Horsham Fire Company was dispatched Monday night to assist the Willow Grove Fire Company on a storm-related building fire on the 400 block of Newton Road in Upper Moreland, Horsham ChATs said.

Temperatures are expected to head into the upper 70s later Tuesday with no rain currently in the forecast.
