Video Shows Tractor-Trailer Being Flipped On Its Side By Hurricane Ida Tornado In Horsham

A video shows a tractor-trailer being flipped over by the powerful EF2 tornado that ripped through Horsham during the heart of Ida.

HORSHAM, PA — A tractor-trailer driver shared a video online of his truck being flipped by a powerful tornado that came through Montgomery County back on Sept. 1.

Karl Beyer has posted dashcam video to YouTube showing his truck being turned over on its side by a tornado that was spawned by Hurricane Ida, and which ended up causing extensive damage throughout the county and beyond.

The video shows the powerful twister flipping the tractor-trailer on a road in the Maple Glen section of Horsham, which is one of the communities that was hit particularly hard by Ida.

Both Horsham neighboring Upper Dublin sustained damage from the storm. Maple Glen is not a municipality, but rather a section of both Horsham and Upper Dublin Townships. The area where the footage of the truck was shot is in a spot straddling both municipalities, but technically on the Horsham side.

Upper Dublin also had extensive damage from the storm; the roof to the township’s municipal complex was ripped off by the tornado and the government offices and police department have since relocated to other areas of the township since the complex was rendered uninhabitable.

In the description for Beyer’s video on YouTube, the trucker wrote that even if you do not live in “tornado alley,” always take tornado warnings seriously, as is evident by what happened to him on the road that day.

The tornado that caused the truck to flip ended up being classified as a very serious EF2 tornado.

In the comments section of his video posting, Beyer says that he had pain from his seatbelt when the truck flipped, but other than that he was pretty much OK following the incident.

One commenter on YouTube said that he or she has lived in the Maple Glen area for 27 years and never saw devastation like the damage that was caused by Hurricane Ida.
