Coroner IDs woman killed in West End duplex fire (wjactv.com) — A woman has been identified as the victim of last week’s fatal duplex fire on Wilson Street in Johnstown’s West End, marking the city’s third deadly blaze since Halloween. Authorities say 55-year-old Stacy Yingling suffered extensive thermal burns, with investigators noting she was on oxygen and that smoking is believed to have been a factor, though the fire is not considered suspicious.
   

2. Johnstown unveils budget after oversight pushes back vote (wjactv.com) — Johnstown officials have released a proposed 2026 city budget that closes this year’s general fund deficit but increases overall spending by about $1 million, including big jumps in demolition and new parking pay stations. The plan also boosts payments from the Johnstown Housing Authority for police services, and council will hold a special New Year’s Eve meeting at 5 p.m. to vote on it.
   

3. 4. Cambria County nonprofits to receive funding through Neighborhood Assistance Program (altoonamirror.com) — Johnstown residents will see accessibility improvements at the Johnstown Library, thanks to new Neighborhood Assistance Program funding supporting ADA upgrades, staff training, and outreach. The program is sending more than $591,000 to Cambria County nonprofits overall, backing workforce training, expanded food distribution, and stronger child care services that aim to help local families and neighborhoods.
   

5. PA: Westmont seeks revision of CamTran funding formula; bus service backers speak out (masstransitmag.com) — Westmont Borough is weighing whether to pay CamTran’s full $13,412 request, a decision that could determine future bus frequency for many riders in the Johnstown region. Residents packed a recent council meeting to oppose potential cuts, while officials approved a 2026 budget with no tax increase but left the final CamTran payment undecided.
