Fatal Hit And Run Claims Life Of 83-Year-Old Pedestrian: Police

A vehicle struck and killed the man in Hatfield Township. Investigators are trying to piece together what happened.

HATFIELD, PA — An 83-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in this Montgomery County community late last week.

Police in Hatfield Township said officers were sent to the area of Oak Park Road and Koffel Road on Oct. 27 at around 3:13 in the afternoon after a call came through for a medical emergency.

Arriving police officers and emergency medical personnel with the Lansdale-based Volunteer Medical Service Corps tried to perform life-saving measures on the elderly victim at the scene, according to Hatfield Township Police.

The victim ended up being transported by ambulance to Lansdale Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Investigators subsequently determined the man had been struck by a vehicle.

The department did not release the victim's name or any other details about the investigation.

Police are requesting anyone with doorbell cameras or any type of cameras in the area of Koffel Road and Oak Park Road contact the Hatfield Township Police Department to assist with the investigation.
