Loaded Gun Stolen from Unlocked Car in Upper Gwynedd

A loaded gun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 400 block of West Prospect Avenue in Upper Gwynedd during the overnight of July 25 into July 26, police said.

On Thursday morning, Upper Gwynedd Township Police officers responded to the 400 block of West Prospect Avenue for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle, police said.

The homeowner told police that a loaded gun was stolen from his unlocked car during the overnight, police said.

Detectives are gathering evidence and pursuing all leads in the investigation, police said.

In the past, multiple police departments have reminded the public to be awarea of crime and lock their car doors, police said.

Police said these crimes are more than "nuisance crimes" and are the worst case example of the need to help police prevent crime by keeping homes, vehicles and other valuables locked and secure.
